The Montessori Pink Tower is a classic sensorial material made of wooden cubes that helps children distinguish size in three dimensions (length, width, height). The set includes 10 pink cubes from 1 cm to 10 cm and supports concentration, hand–eye coordination, as well as indirect mathematical preparation.

The Pink Tower is a symbol of Montessori sensorial materials. The single-color design of the cubes helps the child focus on only one quality – size. The cubes differ in edge length from 1 cm to 10 cm, with their volume increasing according to the 3rd power (from 1 cm3 up to 1000 cm3).

Working with this material develops not only visual perception, but also fine motor skills and independence. When building the tower, the child gradually perceives the sequence of sizes and indirectly prepares for later work with mathematical materials and concepts such as the decimal system.

What the child develops:

  • Visual discrimination of size (direct aim)
  • Refinement of movement through precise placement of the cubes in one motion of the hand
  • Hand–eye coordination and fine motor skills
  • Concentration and working in sequence
  • Mathematical preparation (indirect aim)
  • Language: the concepts “small” and “large”, including comparatives and superlatives

Control of error: the child notices the error visually by looking (and possibly also by touch, running a finger along the edges where a “step” appears).
